DIY office printer maintenance and repair

DIY ways to increase office printer uptime and unlimited servicing for increased peace of mind.

DIY office printer maintenance and repair

Leasing an office printer comes with a wide range of advantages. Businesses with changing needs might consider a short-term printer lease, looking to have more flexibility in the future. However, businesses looking for a better value device can enjoy the numerous benefits and extended financial predictability that leasing a printer for the long-term printer leasing brings.

Regardless of an organization’s unique requirements, businesses that lease an office printer save the initial cost of buying one while still being able to immediately enjoy all the benefits it brings.

While Kyocera office printers are synonymous with reliability, you may run into hiccups on rare occasions. We’ve created this guide to help you keep your printer running smoothly and to fix your device if something does go wrong.

This guide is divided into two parts – each complete with DIY tips and insights from Kyocera experts.

  • Part 1: Simple printer maintenance tips
  • Part 2: Printer repair in minutes

Simple printer maintenance tips

While the Kyocera Unlimited Plan comes with unlimited standard servicing, the best way to avoid having to fix your office printer is to take good care of it in the first place. Our printer experts have put together some easy ways in which you can take care of your device.

1. Choose the right paper. Make sure to use only the type of paper accepted by your device. Kyocera printers take A3 or A4 paper (or both). Regardless of paper size, don’t use paper that is wrinkled or torn, as this may cause jams. Here you can find which type of paper your office printer takes.

2. Use Kyocera toner. Use only genuine Kyocera toner. Products from other suppliers will jeopardize the health of your device, lower the quality of your prints, and have other undesirable consequences.

3. Find the right location. Keep your printer in a dry place and away from direct sunlight and other sources of constant heat.

4. Remember to unplug. You need to unplug to stay sharp, and so does your printer. Unplugging your office printer when you’re not using it saves energy and helps reduce wear and tear on your device.

5. Clean your printer periodically. Dust and dirt build up in printers over time, so it’s important to clean it out about once a week. Consult the operation guide for cleaning advice specific to your device. Tip: Regardless of the device you have, never use chemical products to clean it.

The Kyocera Unlimited Plan

The Kyocera Unlimited Plan

Printer maintenance, printer repair, printer supplies. All unlimited and all included in the Kyocera Unlimited Plan.

Printer repair in minutes

While the Kyocera Unlimited Plan includes unlimited printer maintenance and printer repair, our experts have put together this list of solutions to the most common hiccups you may find with your office printer – all of which can be fixed in just a few minutes.

1. I can’t turn my printer on. Check to see if the power cable is plugged into your device and into the power source correctly. If you’re still having trouble, try connecting your printer to another power point.

2. How to clear a paper jam. Keep in mind that paper jams can occur at more than one point of the paper path. This includes the tray, paper cassette, or paper feeder. Go to the support page for instructions specific to your device.

3. Toner problems. One of the most common problems is low or empty toner. A low toner alert will appear on your device, meaning you’ll have to change it following the instructions you can find here
Tip: Remember to use only genuine Kyocera toner – it has a Kyocera label on it and is included in the Kyocera Unlimited Plan.

4. Low print quality. Damp paper or the Eco setting being turned on without you realizing it are common reasons you may see a lower print quality. Find your printer on our support page for specific guidance on fixing this issue.

5. Print queue issues. If your office printer is showing a print queue alert, check the network connection and ensure there is no paper jam. Also make sure you are using only genuine Kyocera ink.

Printer leasing should bring you increased uptime and put you in the driver’s seat when it comes to growing your business. Enjoy unlimited printer maintenance and printer repair with the Kyocera Unlimited Plan.
