Installation Notes

 

(1) It is recommended to close all running applications before installing or modifying KMnet Admin or any components.

(2)     The KMnet Admin installer will install the Java SDK, and PostgreSQL 8.3 if not already installed on your system.

(3) Limitations in Java, the Java SDK and KMnet Admin prevent the software from being installed into any directory path that includes spaces e.g. C:\Program Files.

 

Client Connection to KMnet Admin

 

(1) After installation of KMnet Admin, clients connect to the following URL using their browser:
http://<KMnet Admin server name or ip address>:7478/kmnetadmin
For example: http://10.1.1.45:7478/kmnetadmin

(2) Default login accounts are:
User: admin Password: admin
User: guest Password: guest
Changing the admin password after initial login is highly recommended.

Supported Server System Configuration

Memory requirements vary depending on the number of managed devices and the number of installed KMnet Admin plug-ins.

Minimum configuration for running KMnet Admin: 512MB memory, 500MB hard disk space

Recommended configuration for small to medium networks, or when using plug-in consoles like Print Job Manager and/or Accounting: 2.0 GHz CPU, 1GB memory, 500MB hard disk space

Recommended configuration for enterprise networks: 2.0 GHz CPU, 2GB memory, 2GB hard disk space

General Known Issues

 

(1) Ctrl-N after login not supported
After logging into KMnet Admin, using Ctrl-N to open another browser session will cause problems. IE uses the same session id as the previous instance. This may cause one or both of the browser instances to freeze.

(2) Print Job Manager host agent uninstallation
Uninstalling the host agent will remove all managed ports. It is recommended to unmanage the queues in Configure Queues prior to uninstalling the host agent. On Windows Vista, an error message will display during uninstallation. Please disregard this error message. The host agent will be uninstalled correctly in spite of the error message.

(3) Corrupted saved print jobs after Print Job Manager Host Agent uninstallation and reinstallation
After uninstalling and reinstalling the host agent, the existing spooled jobs must be manually deleted. Reprinting jobs that were printed during the previous host agent installation will result in corrupted output. This problem does not occur when the host agent is upgraded.

(4) Job Release Plug-in Installation Error
If you receive an error when installing the KX Driver Job Release plug-in, please see the Job Release Readme in the Print Job Manager documentation section on the KMnet Admin CD.

(5) KMnet Admin in IE 7 multiple tabs not supported
IE 7 uses the same session id for the KMnet Admin instances in multiple tabs. Therefore, the KMnet Admin server cannot distinguish between the two instances and one or both tabs may freeze.

(6) Long server names not supported
Servers with names longer than 15 characters are not supported when HTTPS is selected under Administration - Security - Web Server.

(7) Map View will become unresponsive for more than 100 devices per map
Due to limitations in IE 6 and IE 7, we do not recommend creating maps with more than 100 devices per map. Workaround: Split your group into subgroups and use links to generate composite maps.
 

(8) Print Job Manager: Cannot print using PRESCRIBE Generator, IC-Link, or save PDF to file

Do not use Print Job Manager on print queues that will also use IC-Link, the PRESCRIBE Generator, or PDF output from the KX Driver.

(9) Not all models are supported by the Accounting Manager console

Models, KM-2540, KM-3040, CS-2540, CS-3040, KM-2540(J) and KM-3040(J) are not supported by the Accounting Manager console. Please turn off the Accounting feature on these models when using KMnet Admin.

(10) Paper Size counters on TASKalfa and CopyStar models

Paper Size counters for accounts on TASKalfa 250ci/300ci/400ci/500ci and CS 250ci/300ci/400ci/500ci models cannot be supported.

(11) No support for Job Release on 64 bit Windows

Currently Job Release is not supported on 64 bit Windows systems.

(12) Limited model support for Job Release

Job release from the printing device is not supported for FS-C5100DN, FS-C5200DN, FS-C5300DN, FS-2020D, FS-3920DN, FS-4020DN, FS-6970DN, KM-1350D, TASKalfa 250ci/300ci/400ci/500ci and CS 250ci/300ci/400ci/500ci.

(13) IPv6 on Windows XP or 2003 server

A configuration file change is needed when the native IPv4 support is changed to IPv6 after KMnet Admin has been installed on Windows XP or Windows 2003 server. The fix for this is to uncomment the last line of C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\data\pg_hba.conf. The line looks like this “#host all all ::1/128 md5”. There is no issue if IPv6 support is added before KMnet Admin is installed.

(14) Cleanup needed after PostgreSQL is uninstalled

If PostgreSQL has been uninstalled some clean up is required before installing it again with the KMnet Admin installer. The user account that was created during install must be removed. This can be done by going to: Start\Control Panel\Administration Tools\Computer Management\System Tools\Local Users and Groups\Users and then right click on the "postgres" user and select Delete. Also the Postgres folder at C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL needs to be removed.

(15) Accounting Manager: Clone feature

Clone feature doesn’t support KM-3050, KM-4050, KM-5050, CS-3050, CS-4050, CS-5050, KM-4050(J), KM-5050(J), KM-2560, KM-3060, CS-2560, CS-3060, KM-2560(J) and KM-3060(J) for both source device and target device.

(16) Accounting Manager: Balance and functional restrictions might not be copied between different models

When cloning accounts between different Kyocera models, not all balance and functional restrictions may be copied to the target devices. If you are cloning between model families, check that the settings on the target device are correct after cloning.
